I promised #JumpbackJuly posts but I haven’t really posted any. Today, I’ve decided that I’ve already had a lot of free time and I can start stressing over my bumbling posts again, haha!
Today’s items in the spotlight are Ben Nye Luxury Powder samplers I got from Kering Keri Store. It’s an online store I stumbled upon on Happy.ph because their sponsored post showed up on my Facebook newsfeed one day (Tellie of Beauty by Tellie showed up as a fan so I checked it out). I first saw the Ben Nye Banana Luxury Powder sampler but I thought it’d be too yellow. When I saw the Neutral one, it never left my mind. I made the purchase after an hour of deciding.
After Eunice, Kering Keri Store owner, messaged me the payment details, I asked her if she would ever release a sampler for the Cameo shade. She said she’d message me if she will and I held on to that promise. The next day, she DID!!! And I was more than happy to make another purchase!
My purchase decisions actually bud from a long back story. I’ve been off of makeup for weeks now because I felt like my previous breakout hasn’t really gone away yet, and because, well, my Revlon liquid foundation is running out and I’ve no budget to fund a new bottle with as of the moment *ehemSPONSORMEehem*. It wasn’t really that bad — I just had a couple of pimples on my forehead and cheeks that were very stubborn and did not want to take a day off (I have pictures but I’m not confident enough to show). I guess my skin was still very stressed out. :(
I finally went to Dermstrata Greenbelt last Friday and got rid of EVERYTHING (they did say I had no blackheads, tho). It makes me happy that they still remember me even if I’ve been skipping getting the extraction done every month, but I promised myself I would regularly visit them already. It’s not like it’s expensive, it just hurts a lot!!! I forgot the lady who pricks my face before, but with my previous visit, look for Grace — she does it very quickly so it doesn’t feel like you’re paying for an hour in hell! I’m still nursing the pricked pores so I figured I should do some more brush cleaning for the weekend. With that foreseen, I also wanted to get a proper powder for my face (I’ve recently been using M&S IRIS Powder that isn’t really for the face) and so I did last week.
They arrived this week like this, a day after my payment (I regularly post on Instagram now so follow me)…
I love the stickers and the packaging. It makes me feel really good and welcome. I also like the humble but heartfelt freebies because I tend to lose hair ties a lot. I’m keeping these at work, thank you!!!
I didn’t have any plans to purchase but I’ve seen Ben Nye Luxury Powders from A LOT of internet stores. It’s left and right and some store owners even diss on others because business reasons — I can’t blame those who’d pay for the cheapest pricetag! It’s just that I’ve always wanted to try it but I didn’t want to go out and try a shared sampler (I usually don’t) and I didn’t have money to waste on buying a product that might not suit me. THANK GOD FOR EUNICE’S GENIUS IDEA!!!
I didn’t bother to take any photos when the Neutral one arrived (LOL too excited) so here’s one of Cameo instead. Kering Keri Store’s sampler sizes have 15g of powder packed in this sturdy container. It comes with a tiny puff which I forgot to include in the picture because I use The Body Shop’s kabuki brush to apply powder (and yes, I bring it with me almost always). The plastic sifter (what is it actually called?) is sealed with tape but is a bit on the loose side. I don’t mind because the cap screws on tight anyway.
Being curious as to why it’s in-demand, I did a little research. Ben Nye Luxury Powders come from the Ben Nye Makeup Company founded by Benjamin Emmet Nye Sr., a renowned film makeup artist from the past (I don’t know how to say it but it was from the 1930s to the 1980s). The Bella Luxury Powders (Cameo, Buff, Banana and Beige Suede) are micro-milled for a silky texture and are translucent with just a hint of color. They also boast a superior matte finish.
They didn’t mention anything about the scent but both Neutral and Cameo powders are scentless. They don’t smell like your usual powder. Being a paranoid, I like this as artificial fragrance can irritate one’s skin. I don’t think anyone need scented powder, LOL!
Here’s Neutral beside Cameo.
I’ve already tried both shades on my bare face and I LOVE THEM SO MUCH, I don’t know which shade to stock up on. I didn’t bother taking swatches because honestly, the shades don’t look that different to me except that Neutral makes my face look just a little a bit whiter than usual. It’s not overly visible, I should add.
Over foundation, Neutral looked, well, neutral. As I said, it doesn’t really add that much color, it just sets the makeup into place. I can’t say the same for Cameo since haven’t tried it over foundation yet. It matches the color of my face though (is it safe to say that I am NC20?). Both shades do a great job handling my combination skin as it handles the oil well for a couple of hours (blotting and reapplication has never been cakey) and doesn’t make the dry areas look very powdery (or flaky/peeling). It also does a great job staying on despite the sweaty commute from home to work every morning.
Trying before buying has always been a good shopping mantra (that’s why I love Sample Room) and I love how Eunice of Kering Keri Store understands it, too. I’m completely sold to this brand and making a 1.5 or 3 oz. purchase from Kering Keri Store as soon as I make up my mind with what shade I really want~
She sells the Ben Nye Neutral Luxury Powder sampler at PHP150 and the Ben Nye Cameo Luxury Powder sampler at PHP200. They also have the very famous Ben Nye Banana Luxury Powder sampler for PHP220. All samplers come in the 15g container.
You can drop by Kering Keri Store and I know she’d be glad to accommodate you as she’s on of the sweetest online sellers I’ve encountered. Kering Keri Store is also on Facebook and Instagram for your convenience. :)
